FAQ’s – The Finer Details

About my style
I’m nearing almost 1000 weddings and have adapted and shot to the forever changing trends over the years. My shooting style is mainly documentary; kind of off the cuff capturing the day rather than staging every shot. Leaving me to my own devices allows my creative and artistic juices to simply flow. That said some couples do ask for a little direction and I’m happy to guide where needs be.
Your Images – USB & Albums
Its your call. Images are downloadable or available on a USB Memory Stick. Images will be edited and ready to print. They also come with the release rights for you to print and produce at your own wish. I also provide high-end Fine Art Albums from around the globe. All albums are designed by myself around your chosen images, then printed and handcrafted by the finest suppliers.
I’ve covered many weddings throughout the UK and abroad and am more than happy to travel. UK weddings are usually free of travel charges but occasionally there may be a minimal fee to cover possible hotel charges. I’ve been fortunate enough to shoot many destination weddings over the past couple of years. Locations such as Antigua, Italy, Croatia, Norway, Turkey and Cannes in France. Charges to shoot abroad however do apply and depending on the location, length of stay, flights etc prices may vary. I’d happy to run through an estimate at your point of enquiry.
Can We meet With You?
Yes, with pleasure. I’d love to hear more about your day and run through further work and sample albums. If you’d like to make a no obligation viewing appointment please just ask. If you’re not local I’m happy call or even Skype you. Click to make an appointment.
How Do We Book?
Bookings are made on a 1st come 1st served basis so act quickly. Bookings are taken well in advance, sometimes around 18 to 24 months prior. If you’d like to take your enquiry to the next stage then please get in touch. Either complete the enquiry form, email or call me. I’ll check the date for my availability and reply as soon as I can. There’s a small bit of paperwork to compete as well as a booking fee to pay. Only on completion of both does the booking become official. Head over to the enquiry form here
Yer, sure thing. Once the initial booking fee has been paid you can choose a payment period and amount to pay towards your balance. We can automate email reminders and payment trackers, along with an invoice breakdown. This PP wont be a binding contract so if you wish to amend or have a break from your chosen payment plan you can do so. Unless prearranged* your balance is due 14 days before your big day.
*In some circumstances part payment of your balance can be paid after your wedding. Please ask for further details. NB No images are released until full payment has been received.
Do You Shoot Groups?
Yes, if requested. Its a personal preference from couple to couple. I do recommend listing groups in a priority order and keeping them to a minimum. Pass a copy to your Ushers & Best Man to round them up. I’m more than happy to call and request guest come forward but I prefer to be shooting rather than shouting. It’ll also save you on time.
The Portrait Shoot
Taking time out away from your guests is recommended and usually 20 minutes or so is plenty. I’m happy to go through some simple poses and tips during the consultation session. If I’m with you all day through to your 1st dance then the time between your wedding breakfast/ speeches is an ideal opportunity to shoot the portraits. Most couples are more relaxed at this time, easing the pressure off the main part of the day. Technically it can also be a finer light to shoot in.
Do You Cover Bridal Preparations?
100% yes. Its one of the most pleasurable parts for the day. Capturing the emotional rollercoaster of fun, laughter, nerves and tears certainly helps document and tell a fuller story. If required by the bride this is also an opportunity to capture the finer details of the bride’s dress and her accessories.
How Many Images Do We Receive?
Expect anywhere between 300 to 400, sometimes more. There’s no limit to the number of images I provide as each wedding is unique and the number of images usually reflect on the days events. If it helps please check out a selection of images from real weddings on my blog. (Take me to the Blog) Food for thought. Supplying 1000 images for the day is close to 2 images per minute. This pressure i’m afraid would seriously impact the professional feel to any set of images. So for my answer I’ll pinch the phrases ‘quality over quantity’ and ‘less is more’. All usable images are also edited to the highest professional standards.
How Long Before We Can See The Images?
All usable images are edited to meet the highest professional standards. Each wedding takes a few days of editing from start till finish, allowing for day to day running of the business . During peak season images usually take 4 to 6 weeks.
What Happens If I’m Poorly
Touch wood, I’ve never missed a wedding. In the case of illness I would guarantee an equivalent replacement. I’m fortunate to be associated with many high-end professionals who I can call on. I would distinguish who was free and pass you a list of relevant names for your perusal. Covering your wedding would be my priority. Your booking fee would understandably be refunded.
Do You Have Backup Equipment?
Yes. I use the best build quality of kit and carry more then ample lenses, camera’s etc if the inevitable happened.
Yes I can. I regularly shoot with some of the finest videographers around and they cant come more highly recommended. I have a great working relationship with them all and they know how I work best and vice versa. I have listed them in the links section here. Each has their own style and price and are worth checking out. Remember to say I sent you 😉
