Sophie + James
Recently married at St Augustine’s church in Penarth with reception at St Davids Hotel .
Sophie’s preparations took place only a stone’s throw away from St Augustine’s Church overlooking Cardiff Bay and Bristol Channel. Once the service was over we all had a quick dash down to Penarth’s Portway Mariner for a scheduled boat trip across Cardiff Bay. Conveniently our destination stop took us directly to their reception venue.
St Davids provides some spectacular views overlooking Cardiff Bay. You could even clearly make out St Augustine’s Church. I took Sophie & James to their bridal suit for their couple shots as rain and wind prevented our walk around the venue grounds and Bay.

The Who and Where to’s
Sarah and Chris’s wedding ceremony took place at St Augustine’s Church in Rumney. Followed by their reception at St David’s Hotel , Cardiff Bay wedding venue.
Before heading to Sarah’s mother house for stage two of her bridal bridal preparations stage one took place just around the corner at Sarah’s sister Catherine’s house. 1st on the priority list was nibbles ad nothing better starts a wedding day off than a bacon butty! I usually resist but it smelt like heaven of course it would be rude to refuse.
Its was here Sarah and her family made and arranged their own flower displays and bridal bouquet for the wedding. It was a craft that had been passed down the generations and to be fair they knew their stuff.I was extremely impressed.
Present For The Bride
Once we arrived at Sarah’s mother’s house she Sarah was presented with a present from Chris. An early morning surprise gift for his bride to be containing jewelery, a card and a framed personalise poem.
Whilst the girls did their thing and slowly got ready for Sarah’s big day, Dad of course kept out of the way and occupied himself by doing what Dads do best and that was to mow the lawn.
To Have and To Hold
I arrived at the church to a few many friendly faces who I knew from a past life. It was like a little reunion for me. Sarah, Dad and Bridesmaids arrived shortly after me and we got them into the church as quickly as possible. I documented their ceremony from the back of the church as it was a little tight up front and I was still able to capture the feel and warmth of their wedding from a guest perspective. SOmetimes a prefered angle of mine is some tight churches.
Down The Bay
We soon headed down to Cardiff Bay for their wedding reception. We had a Master of Ceremony helping the flow of thier wedding day. A great help when trying to call and arrange requested groups shots whilst up against the hotels sit down times. The rest of their day panned out as planned and they could’ve asked for more.
It was an honour for me to document a dear friend’s wedding. I’ve known Sarah and a few family members for almost 18 years. They’re always laughing and joking, you’d want to be around them 24/7. Thank you both for choosing me as your wedding photographer. It was a day I’ll never forget.
